Bill Osborn  

Bill Osborn
Bill Osborn is President of Osborn Drugs, Inc. in Miami, Ok. Osborn Drugs, est in 1971, was started by his father Willie Osborn who is currently CEO. Osborn Drugs has grown through partnerships with community pharmacists to a store count of 24 with 16 different partners. Osborn Drugs has been a pioneer in the implementation of technology in the retail pharmacy industry, concentrating mostly on pharmacy workflow and automation. Bill served on the NCPA technology committee from 2000 to 2009 and is currently 1st Vice-President of NCPA.


Timothy Davis  

Timothy Davis (Chair)
Tim Davis is a well-known independent pharmacy expert, owner of Beaver Health Mart, and pharmacist of Brighton Health Mart, located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. Tim oversees a growing, community pharmacy operation that offers a great example of how independent pharmacy, providing the right patient services and care, can complete successfully in a marketplace that is otherwise, heavily dominated by national, retail drugstore chains.

Proud of his western Pennsylvania roots, Tim is a guest lecturer and adjunct instructor at University of Pittsburgh’s School of Pharmacy and has also developed community pharmacy teaching curriculum that focuses on building patient relationships while emphasizing physical examination skills and knowledge of pharmacoeconomics, Medication Therapy Management (MTM) and business design.

He currently serves on several national and local committees and advisory boards, including the National Community Pharmacist Association’s (NCPA) Committee for Technology in Pharmacy, the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Pharmacy Executive Alumni Board, McKesson’s Independent Advisory Board, and the Health Mart Ambassador Group. He is also actively involved in the local community health outreach efforts as a volunteer with the University of Pittsburgh’s Program for Healthcare to Underserved Populations.


Bill Felkey  

Bill Felkey
Meet Professor Emeritus of Healthcare Informatics, Bill G. Felkey of Auburn University's Harrison School of Pharmacy. His research interests focus on the creation of knowledge-bases and the use of advanced technology in all disciplines and specialties in healthcare. His professional accomplishments include the Most Outstanding Faculty Member of the Harrison School of Pharmacy for 1996, and in 1997, he received the Auburn University Outreach Ward for Excellence. In 2004, Bill was selected as the favorite seminar speaker of pharmacists in a national survey conducted by Drug Topics. He was favored over Colin Powell, Rudi Giuliani, and Dick Cheney.

Bill has secured or assisted in delivering over five million dollars of funded research while at Auburn. He is a frequent seminar presenter and has authored two informatics books and over 1200 papers and presentations on topics of computers, health system informatics, use of technology in medical, nursing and pharmacy practice, and management and technology issues in healthcare systems. His former students call him Professor Gadget and Bill says when you meet him, you will have met the guy who dies with the most tech toys.


Jeff Harrell  

Jeff Harrell
Jeff received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Washington State University in 2001. He managed an independent pharmacy in Seattle, WA from 2002 to 2005 before returning to his native Long Beach, WA to become co-owner of Peninsula Pharmacies, Inc. in 2006. Jeff and his business partners purchased a fourth pharmacy in Raymond, WA in January of 2008.

Jeff is a member of the NCPA Steering Committee for Innovation and Technology, the Washington State Pharmacy Association, and the National Community Pharmacy Association. He is a board member of both the Long Beach Merchants Association and the Pacific County Economic Development Council.

Jeff has been featured in Computer Talk magazine for technology innovations in pharmacy practice and pharmacy security.


Steve Judy  

Steven Judy, R.Ph.
Community pharmacist for 36 years, graduate West Virgina University SOP, 2 children Emily (a third generation pharmacist in our practice) and Darin a pharmacy tech and para-medic. Active in and past president of West Virginia Pharmacists Association and a past recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia. Board member of ASAP, Grant County Band (chair), Grant County Health Dept. (chair), Highlands Bank Shares, and Grace Lutheran Church. Owner of 2 pharmacies in rural West Virginia and an advocate of automation in pharmacy (when and where it makes sense).


C.A. Kuykendall  

C.A. Kuykendall
C. A. Kuykendall owns Village Pharmacy in Ozark, Arkansas. C. A. is a PCCA member, board member of Medical Equipment Suppliers Association, board member of Pharmacy Partners of America a cooperative of Compliant Pharmacy Alliance and consultant pharmacist for a local nursing home.

C. A. is also president of POSiTrack Software, provider of pharmacy point of sale solutions designed for independent pharmacies.


Bill Lockwood  

Bill Lockwood
Bill serves as the executive director of the American Society for Automation in Pharmacy (ASAP), an organization he was instrumental in forming in 1988 to represent the interests of companies providing computer-based products and services to the pharmacy market. More than 160 companies and organizations are members of ASAP.

He is also the founder and chairman of ComputerTalk Associates, Inc., located in Blue Bell, Pa. His company publishes ComputerTalk for the Pharmacist, a bimonthly publication on technology topics of interest to community pharmacists.

Bill currently serves on the Innovation and Technology Committee of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) and is technical advisor to the Pharmacist Services Technical Advisory Coalition (PSTAC). He is also a member of the PhRMA paperless labeling task force. He has authored numerous articles on technology in pharmacy and has been a speaker and moderator at a number of pharmacy conferences.

In addition to the above, he serves on the advisory board of the Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Pharmacy, scheduled to accept its first class in 2012.

He holds a B.S. degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University (Madison) and an M.B.A. degree from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University (Bloomington).


Will Lockwood  

Will Lockwood
Will Lockwood is assistant executive director of the American Society for Automation in Pharmacy (ASAP), a membership organization dedicated to fostering understanding of the role that technology plays in assisting pharmacists to promote patient safety and the proper use of medications, comply with laws and regulations, and operate their practices more efficiently. Will is also director of editorial content for ComputerTalk Associates, Inc., publisher of ComputerTalk for the Pharmacist, a magazine that covers the role of technology in pharmacy clinical and business management. In that role, he has written and edited numerous stories highlighting practical ways in which pharmacists use technology to better manage their clinical and business operations.

He participates in the National Community Pharmacists Association’s (NCPA) technology committee and recently authored a chapter titled “Automation of Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Operations” in Building Core Competencies in Pharmacy Informatics (Fox, Thrower, Felkey; American Pharmacists Association, 2010)

Will received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, and M.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge.


Jonathan Marquess  

Jonathan Marquess
Jonathan Marquess has a passion for providing diabetes counseling, screening, and services to his community. He serves as president of The Institute for Wellness and Education and as a diabetes educator for 2 American Diabetes Association-recognized diabetes education centers. Along with his pharmacist wife, Dr. Marquess also owns 3 Health Mart pharmacies in the Atlanta, Georgia, metro area.

Dr. Marquess’ Health Mart pharmacies each offer a Diabetes Life Center, which provides diabetes patients with a suite of services to help them manage their disease. Diabetes screenings are available all day, and his pharmacists counsel patients on nutrition and exercise, blood glucose monitoring, and insulin delivery and devices. The centerpiece of Dr. Marquess’ pharmacies is one-on-one medication therapy management (MTM) coaching sessions, which help patients with chronic diseases both understand and adhere to their medications. MTM at Health Mart also provides patients with the tools to help them manage disease states, including diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.

In addition to being an entrepreneurial independent pharmacy owner, Dr. Marquess serves on the national faculty for the Diabetes and Immunization Certificate Training Programs, and is the chairman of the Georgia Adult Immunization coalition. He is also a strong advocate for the profession. Dr. Marquess speaks to local employers and insurance providers on the financial and clinical benefits of diabetes screenings. Dr. Marquess has given professional presentations on a variety of topics related to diabetes and immunizations, and has provided consumer health care advice on national broadcast networks, such as CNN.


Dirk White  

Dirk White
Dirk White, RPh., received his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Minnesota and a Pharmacy degree from South Dakota State University. In 1985, Dirk moved to Sitka to work as a pharmacist at Fry’s Pharmacy. During that time, he met and married Trish White, also a pharmacist. Dirk and Trish have been serving the pharmacy needs of Sitkans ever since.

Dirk has been active in Sitka over the years through membership on numerous boards of directors and service clubs as well as nonprofit community agencies and extracurricular school activities, both in parent and leader roles. He has also served with the Alaska Pharmacists Association since 1985. Currently he is the Vice President of the Alaska Board of Pharmacy. He was awarded the Willard B. Simmons Independent Pharmacist of the Year 2006 Award.


Ken Whittemore  

Ken Whittemore
Ken is Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Surescripts, the company resulting from the merger of SureScripts, founded by the National Community Pharmacists Association and the National Association of Chain Drugs Stores in 2001, and RxHub, also founded in 2001 by the nation’s three largest PBMs – CVS Caremark Corporation, Express Scripts, Inc. and Medco Health Solutions, Inc. The consolidated company has formed a single, secure, nationwide network for e-prescribing and the electronic exchange of health-related information.

Prior to joining Surescripts, Ken was Vice President of Management, Professional, and State affairs for the National Community Pharmacists Association, where he was responsible for handling the managed care, regulatory, and operational issues that confronted NCPA’s independent pharmacy members. He also was NCPA’s liaison to all state, regional, and national pharmacy groups. Earlier, Ken co-owned a successful independent pharmacy in western Maryland.

Ken is a 1976 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, is licensed to practice pharmacy in Maryland, and holds an MBA degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University.


Jason Wang  

Jason Wang (Student Member)
Jason Wang is entering his fourth professional year of the Pharm.D. program at St. Louis College of Pharmacy and currently serves as the national secretary of the NCPA Student Leadership Council. During his first year in the professional program, he served as vice president/president elect of his NCPA student chapter and as president of the chapter the following year. He has also been involved in other pharmacy organizations including APhA-ASP’s Operation Heartburn Awareness co-chair, the Student Pharmacists Association’s fundraising chair, and was the 2009-2010 Phi Lambda Sigma chapter president. Upon acceptance into pharmacy school, he began working at a chain community pharmacy in his hometown, and his interest in the community setting has grown ever since. Jason has a passion for working with his community and enjoys interacting and providing patients with personalized quality care. He hopes to own an independent pharmacy that offers compounding, medication therapy management, and immunization services sometime in the near future.
